Amanda of iHEARTcookingg is using the Cuisinart ICE-30BC to make her Green Tea Ice Cream .
She starts off the video by saying the Matcha Green Tea Ice Cream recipe she is demonstrating today is similar those that you find at Japanese restaurants.
She shares that the most challenging part of following this recipe is possibly finding the right “green tea powder”.
For herself, she bought her powder online at nuts.com, but adds that you could probably find green tea powder from health food stores or local asian grocery stores.
She emphasizes that it’s important that it’s “100% Matcha Green Tea Powder”.
Firstly, she dissolves the powder with hot water.
Next, she prepares the ice cream base by whisking 2 egg yolks with sugar.
She adds in milk to the mixture.
She heats up the mixture on low heat to thicken it up, till it lightly bubbles.
She adds in the green tea mixture to the pot and stirs till its well combined.
She says to sieve the mixture to remove any clumps after this step.
She chills the mixture in the fridge.
Next she moves on to whisk the heavy cream on her Kitchen Aid machine.
When the cream has become stiff, she adds in the green tea mixture from her fridge to the bowl.
She combines the 2 mixtures.
She pours the combined mixture into her ice cream maker.
About 20 minutes later, she scoops out her completed green tea ice cream.
She says at this point, you can eat the ice-cream as it is.
Or refrigerate it in an airtight container in the fridge to be enjoyed any time.
